German broadcaster ntv has published an in-depth interview with EOS’ CEO, Dr Andreas Schwer, examining the growing demand for counter-drone capability, high energy laser weapons (HELW) and space-related technologies across Europe. The article highlights Germany as EOS’ number one target market in Europe, supported by plans to establish operational units in both Germany and France.

The ntv piece reports that remote weapon systems supplied by EOS in partnership with Diehl are already used by the German Armed Forces in Ukraine to protect IRIS-T air defence systems and Hensoldt radars. Dr Schwer emphasises that these systems have delivered strong performance in comparative firing tests and are offered at significantly lower cost than competing products.

The interview outlines the Apollo family of high energy laser weapons, with power levels up to 150 kilowatts, and notes the difference between EOS’ ready-now HELW technology and current European development programmes.

The article also explores EOS’ work in the space domain, including the use of high energy lasers to disable satellite sensors from the ground. Dr Schwer notes that such capabilities will be central to future warfare and that EOS intends to offer this technology, on a smaller scale, to NATO partners in Europe.
