Aim quickly and fire just a few shots. How an Australian weapon with a Czech footprint shoots down drones in Ukraine

Almost every night dozens of Russian missiles and drones are now targeting Ukrainian cities and power plants. While the Ukrainians need expensive missiles of the Western Patriot or Iris-T systems against missiles, which are starting to become scarce, much cheaper defense in the form of various types of anti-drone machine guns or rapid-fire cannons is sufficient against drones. The requirement for them is the ability to focus on the target as accurately and quickly as possible.

The economic side of the matter is inexorable - cheap drones are not worth destroying with expensive missiles. Among the weapons now shooting down Russian drones in Ukraine is the new Australian EOS Slinger system. It was ordered by the German company Diehl Defence, which manufactures Iris-T anti-missile systems to protect its batteries, which it donated to Ukraine.

Slinger, the counter-drone system which can shoot down a drone with ammunition for only about a hundred dollars, also has a Czech footprint. In addition to soldiers, investors are increasingly interested in anti-drone systems.
