EOS in the Spotlight: Australian Counter-Drone Innovation Featured on Nine News

Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has been featured on Nine News in a report by Andrew Probyn, highlighting Australia’s leadership in advanced counter-drone and directed-energy technologies.

The segment focused on EOS’ Slinger remote weapon system, currently deployed in Ukraine, and the company’s next-generation Apollo high-energy laser weapon designed to defeat drone threats with precision and speed.

Broadcast nationally, the story recognised EOS as one of the few Australian defence companies translating decades of precision laser and optical experience into frontline counter-drone capabilities. It underscored the growing international demand for sovereign technologies that can protect assets and personnel from the escalating drone threat.

Dr Andreas Schwer, EOS’ Group CEO, said the feature was a strong acknowledgment of the team’s work and the relevance of Australian-made defence technology.

“It’s a proud moment for everyone involved, demonstrating the capability and dedication that define EOS,” he said.

The Nine News crew filmed at EOS’ Canberra facility, capturing the engineering, testing and integration work behind systems now proving their effectiveness in combat. The report also highlighted EOS’ ongoing development of high-energy laser weapons – a core part of its future counter-drone portfolio.

The feature marks a proud moment for EOS teams across Australia and abroad, reinforcing the company’s role as a leader in advanced defence innovation.
