From Saudi defence to EOS: Andreas Schwer’s plan to build a global giant
In this episode of the call: corner office, EOS CEO Dr Andreas Schwer opens up about the extraordinary turnaround at one of Australia’s most ambitious defence and space technology companies, and why he believes the biggest opportunity is still ahead.
EOS is now riding a powerful combination of defence demand, battlefield-proven technology and a rapidly growing international footprint. Schwer explains how the company moved from the brink of financial distress when he arrived in 2022 to its best half-year in history, with first-half revenue almost quadrupling to $169 million, positive EBITDA of $21 million and an order book approaching $850 million.
But the numbers are only part of the story.
Schwer reveals how EOS is using hundreds of deployed systems in Ukraine and the Middle East to feed real-world battlefield intelligence directly back into its engineering teams, giving the company what he describes as a significant competitive edge in the rapidly evolving counter-drone market.
He also details the strategic rationale behind the acquisition of MARSS, bringing AI-driven command-and-control software into EOS’s growing arsenal of lasers, remote weapons and air-defence systems.
For investors, there are plenty of milestones to watch, including major contract wins, order-book conversion and the company’s updated $360-$400 million FY26 revenue guidance.
And Schwer is not shy about the ambition. He sees EOS becoming a multi-billion-dollar revenue business within three to five years, with a global footprint and leadership in counter-drone systems, laser weapons and space control.
This is a fascinating look inside a company in full acceleration mode, and a CEO determined to keep the locomotive moving.
