EOS welcomes high-profile German delegation to its Canberra facility

Canberra | 26 March 2026 - Electro Optic Systems (EOS) today welcomed a high-profile German defence delegation, led by Federal Minister of Defence of Germany, Boris Pistorius, to its Canberra facility as part of his first official visit to Australia.

The visit follows the recent announcement of the Australia–European Union Security and Defence Partnership and included German ministers, parliamentarians and defence personnel.

As part of the tour, the delegation reviewed EOS’ counter-drone products including the Slinger remote weapon system and the Apollo 100 kW high energy laser weapon, along with the Atlas space control capability.

EOS also outlined its ability to immediately support Germany’s counter-drone requirements through localised production of Apollo, with faster delivery and lower cost than competing suppliers.

In August 2025, EOS announced the world’s first export contract for a 100 kW high energy laser weapon to the Netherlands. The system is capable of neutralising up to 30 drones per minute at the fraction of the cost of traditional missile-based systems.

EOS is a market-leading supplier of advanced cannon-based counter-drone remote weapon systems and its combat-proven Slinger system is now well established with sales to Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, the United States, the UAE and others. It is operationally deployed and is currently providing protection to armed forces in active conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

In September 2025, the Minister announced a €35 billion investment into defence space technologies over five years, reflecting the increasingly contested nature of space. EOS also provided the delegation with an overview of its unique space control capabilities, focused on the Atlas ground-based high energy laser space control system. Offered in fixed and mobile configurations, Atlas supports a range of missions, from observation through to the active engagement of threats.

EOS Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andreas Schwer, provided the Minister with firm offers to sell Apollo and Atlas systems to Germany.

“Today’s visit has provided EOS with a unique opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities and its ability to immediately support Germany as it addresses growing regional threats to its citizens and sovereignty. EOS continues to expand globally, we foresee strong cooperation with the German government in the future” said Dr Andreas Schwer, Chief Executive Officer, EOS.
