EOS strengthens Board with senior defence and space leadership appointments
Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (EOS) has strengthened its Board with the appointment of Air Vice-Marshal (Ret’d) Catherine Roberts AO, CSC and Major General (Ret’d) Kathryn Toohey AM, CSC as Non-Executive Directors, effective 1 June 2026. The appointments support EOS’ continued strategic focus on scaling its global defence and space businesses and reinforcing its position as a trusted sovereign defence technology partner to allied nations.
EOS Chair Garry Hounsell said the appointments reflected the company’s deliberate focus on aligning Board capability with EOS’ long-term growth strategy and evolving global market opportunities.
“We have been very deliberate in reshaping the Board to ensure we have the right mix of skills, experience and independence to support EOS through its next phase of growth,” Mr Hounsell said.
“Catherine and Kathryn bring deep operational, strategic and governance expertise across defence, national security, complex program delivery and sovereign capability development. Their experience will be highly valuable as EOS continues to scale globally and deliver on its strategic priorities.”
Air Vice-Marshal (Ret’d) Catherine Roberts AO, CSC brings more than 40 years’ experience across defence, aerospace engineering, space systems, weapons technology and major program delivery.
As Australia’s inaugural Commander of Defence Space Command, Ms Roberts led the establishment and operational delivery of Australia’s military space capability and has worked extensively with allied defence and government organisations across North America, Europe and the Indo-Pacific.
Her experience spans defence procurement, operations and the delivery of complex programs valued at more than $16 billion. She currently holds a range of board and advisory appointments including with Australia’s Economic Accelerator, Defence SA, the Andy Thomas Space Foundation and Curtin University’s National Security and Resilience portfolio.
Major General (Ret’d) Kathryn Toohey AM, CSC brings extensive leadership and governance experience across sovereign defence capability, infrastructure, digital systems and national security environments.
Following more than 30 years in the Australian Defence Force, Ms Toohey now serves on several major boards including Austal Ltd, Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd, Defence Health Ltd and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute Ltd.
Her expertise includes governance of complex capability programs, audit and risk oversight, organisational performance and government engagement.
The appointments come as EOS continues to expand its integrated defence and space capabilities globally, supporting allied nations with sovereign, scalable and operationally proven technologies across counter-drone, remote weapon systems and space domain awareness.
