The HEL weapon has been developed as a component of the EOS Titanis counter-UAS system, with its primary mission to effectively disable UAS in Groups 1, 2, and 3, while also neutralising UAS sensors from extended ranges.
The core power source of the HEL weapon is a formidable laser, capable of delivering exceptional energy levels up to 54kW, depending on the specific application requirements.
To ensure uncompromising performance, it is supplied with radar and infrared threat detection, fast-cueing algorithms, target acquisition and beam locking, and safety systems.
The weapon can be supplied with 100–500 stowed engagements or operated continuously from external electrical power; there is no limit to the ON time.
The HEL weapon acts as a valuable complement to kinetic effectors such as guns and cannons, establishing a comprehensive defence system that enhances overall effectiveness and mitigates concerns of collateral damage that may arise from projectiles. This integrated approach provides unparalleled protection against UAS threats.
The weapon can be made operational rapidly after transport, with on-site setup times of around three hours for experienced crews.
